"Full Spectrum Records is pleased to present our very first release of the new year: ’Twin Mirror’ by Sev Sorensen. A long-standing associate of the Shadowtrash Tape Group, as well as a contributing member of the Llano Estacado Monad Band and Satin Spar, Sev has released a slew of works in hyper-limited private press editions over the years. ‘Twin Mirror,’ however, marks their first-ever release under their given name, following on from their collaborative effort with our own Gretchen Korsmo last year.

The bulk of the album was created during the last two years, during a time of period of both literal and figurative transition. Sev began living with a partner for the very first time in 2019 and the couple would relocate to San Antonio, Texas from Lubbock later on in the autumn. Once in San Antonio, they were forced to move three separate times before finally settling down. As a result, Sev’s creative process was fractured, pressurized, and forced to adapt to these environmental shifts.

Diving into their studio work became a way to escape the overwhelming energy and stress generated during this time. The tracks found on ‘Twin Mirror’ thus began life as miniature sound worlds that Sev escaped to when things got heavy – slip dimensions of peace, stability, and transformation. Each song is almost like a journal entry that follows along with the narrative of their protracted move to San Antonio, detailing the emotions felt in specific neighborhoods they’ve inhabited or meditating on homesickness for Lubbock.

Defined sonically by a blending of real and virtual instruments that creates an almost hyperreal effect, ‘Twin Mirror’ stands out as an evocative pastiche of western aesthetics, concrète experimentation, and plasticized electronics that conveys a sense of lonesome blues in the Modern American West." - Full Spectrum Records
